Gaiting and Hoof Boots

The horse in this photo is ‘Gunner’, my 21 year old Tennessee Walking Horse who had been wearing steel shoes for the past 18 years. He made the transition to hoof boots smoothly the first time I rode him in them. I know he’s comfortable wearing them because for the first time in the 13 years I have owned him, he gaited on a gravel road! Before Cavallo, he didn’t even want to walk on a gravel road, much less gait on one. I use these boots on both of my Tennessee Walking Horses and they gait just as well, if not better with them on. I love these because they are super easy to put on and take off and they actually STAY on! It doesn’t matter how long I ride, they stay put. I use the pastern wraps as well and I have not had any issues with rubbing or sores, even after all day rides!
