Cavallo in Michigan

By Carole Herder

Carole Herder, President, Cavallo Horse & Rider

It’s was not surprising that the 31st Annual Horse Expo at MICHIGAN STATE UNIVERSITY – THE STOMPING GROUND OF OUR ESTEEMED DR ROBERT BOWKER would have some well educated forward thinking attendees. Questions asked and audience participation was really inspirational as I ran through my presentation on barefoot hoof care. Hearing encouraging stories of commitment and hope brought tears to our eyes. The shod mare who was sentenced to death as a navicular 5 year old and was now going barefoot and strong at 28, the gelding who proudly paraded through crowd ridicule in his hoof boots and ultimately was the only horse to carry on through the riot of strewn broken glass and of course the many trail horses navigating all and every type of terrain with their complete hoof protection. As sharp contrast to the turnout of years past; over 200 people attended my talks. This is significant progress in our understanding of natural holistic hoof care and I am proud, as President of Cavallo to be in the company of the sharpest minds in the equine world. A million “thank yous” to all the Cavallo Community. As a growing ground swell of evolutionary thinkers, we are undeniably making a difference to the lives of horses around the world.
