Barefoot Mounted Units Race from Houston to Austin
From Amy Blackwelder: “Thanks for sharing my photo. My partner Anson Drake & I loped 1 mile at a time as a team in a relay-style race. Both of our horses are barefoot and were wearing Cavallo boots the whole race! The Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office Mounted Unit proudly participated in the 75th Harris County Sheriff’s Office Pony Express. The Pony Express Ride is a prestigious tradition where horses and riders, mainly from Houston-area law enforcement mounted patrol agencies, travel along U.S. Highway 290 from Waller County Fairgrounds to the State Capital in a relay fashion. Once they reach the Capitol in Austin, riders pass on letters of invitations to elected officials on the steps of the Capitol, marking the beginning of the 92nd Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.”

When your horse comes up lame, one of the first instincts is to limit movement to ensure something catastrophic doesn’t happen or more damage isn’t done. But is this the right approach?
Dr. Martina Neidhart is a veterinarian in Europe with an interest in soft tissue and lameness rehabilitation. The Humble Hoof’s Alicia Harlov reached out to Dr. Neidhart to create this podcast episode about when stall rest might be recommended, when we should limit a horse’s movement, and in what instances it might not be necessary. They also discuss what can happen to horses who don’t move enough while rehabbing.

Exciting Energy at SPOGA Horse
Greg and I just attended the exciting SPOGA horse show in Cologne Germany for our 18th time! This is a trade show where all Cavallo’s worldwide distributors attend to review the past year and discuss plans for the new year and beyond. A hot topic was new product developments for this year, including donkey boots plus a VERY exciting NEW boot (not yet unveiled!). We also met up with many retailers from all over the EU & UK and some from USA, Canada & Australia. So, lots of networking with our Cavallo Community and other equine industry people – all helping Cavallo to maintain its # 1 position as the world’s most trusted hoof boot!
