However, I refuse to have a horse stand in a stall and only come out for his job. Any horse I own will get turnout time. This has never been an issue until her current horse. JD is young, and when he's turned out, he runs and plays with reckless abandon… Literally, every time he’s gotten out in the big field, he's pulled a shoe. “The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office Mounted Unit proudly participated in the 75th Harris County Sheriff's Office Pony Express. The Pony Express Ride is a prestigious tradition where horses and riders, mainly from Houston-area law enforcement mounted patrol agencies, travel along U.S. Highway 290 from Waller County Fairgrounds to the State Capital in a relay fashion. Once they reach the Capitol in Austin, riders pass on letters of invitation to elected officials on the steps of the Capitol, marking the beginning of the 92nd Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

My partner, Anson Drake & I loped one mile at a time as a team in this relay-style race. Both of our horses are barefoot and were wearing Cavallo Boots the whole race!”

"June Bug was so happy to have her boots on. She actually did not want to take them off when she first put them on, but now puts them on and takes them off easily.

She has been barefoot for awhile and has very healthy feet, but used to experience tenderness after longer rides. With her Cavallo trek boots plus gel pads, she is able to make those longer rides more comfortably. June is also a real “clothes horse” and thinks her boots are very stylish."

"I had never thought about using boots on our dressage horses as I always thought they were more for trail riding.

We moved agistment and found that with my daughter Emily's pony Mistie, the sand was a bit more abrasive than what we were used to and 3 out of her 4 hooves were showing signs of cracks forming in the toes. The farrier was starting to talk about the need for shoes, but Mistie is 16 years old and never been shod, so we didn't really want to go down that path. We contacted Cavallo for advice and was recommended a full set of Trek boots with pastern wraps.

Mistie trains Medium level dressage, so we needed boots that would not affect her movement at all, but she moves and performs really well in her boots, with no change to her training at all. The pastern wraps are really good in the arena as they stop any sand that may get into the boots from rubbing. I'm now thinking of transitioning my dressage horse to barefoot and use boots on him when needed too, the result has been that good!
